About the AFSE 2026 Fellowship
The AFSE Program 2026, co-hosted by the University of Melbourne and Waipapa Taumata Rau (University of Auckland), seeks mid-career professionals dedicated to creating Indigenous-led social change. Fellows are selected based on their commitment to community work, leadership potential, and ability to transform bold ideas into impactful projects.

Fellowship Benefits
For 2026 Cohort:
- Fully funded Master’s degree in Social Change Leadership at the University of Melbourne.
- Coverage of all related expenses: accommodation, travel, cultural immersion programs, orientation, and graduation events.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following:
- Citizenship: Citizen or permanent resident of Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, or a Pacific Island nation.
- Professional Experience: 5–8 years in social impact or community leadership, typically mid-career (ages 25–65), or hold a relevant undergraduate degree.
- Education Status: Not enrolled in any academic program or awaiting thesis assessment as of January 2026.
- Fellowship Status: Not currently participating in another Atlantic Fellowship program.
- Language: Fluent in English.
- Travel Readiness: Hold or be eligible for a valid passport; available for ~7 weeks of travel across Australia and New Zealand in 2026.
- Visa: Pacific Island applicants must obtain an Australian student visa.
